The Feast of the Seven Fishes
Celebrate the holidays Italian style - the Feast of the Seven Fishes, also known as “Il Cenone” or “La Vigilia” is a Christmas Eve tradition throughout Italy. The use of the seven fish is a representation of the seven sacraments. In some Italian families thirteen fish are prepared to represent Jesus and his twelve disciples.
Baccala Salad – Salt cod that has been steamed and flaked. Mixed with meyer lemon segments, toasted filone bread crumbs, capers, chilies and Tenuta di Cappenzana 2009 olio nouvo.
Scungilli “alla Napolatana” – Thinly sliced cooked scungilli that is combined with shaved celery, chili flake, red wine vinegar and lemon juice.
Shrimp alla Genovese - Poached rock shrimp dressed with basil pesto, olio verde 09
Orata in "Scapace" - Orata that has been pickled in white wine vinegar, chili and mustard seed served with diced pumpkin and torn mint
Seppia con Acetini - Charred cuttlefish served with house made pickles, jingle bell peppers and fennel, olio verde 09
Caponata del Marinaio - Preserved tuna, capers, garlic, shaved red onion, celery,torn basil & marjarom
Marinated Anchovies and Potato - White anchovy served with diced Yukon gold potato, dried marjarom, poached garlic, lemon avoo & house dried chili flake
